Upcoming Events!

October 11, 2007

October is a very busy and exciting month for us and we’re excited for you all to join us at our events.

Here’s what we have:

October 17th – Conservative Movie Night, we will be watching Team America: World Police and if time allows Knocked Up (Which is a pro-life movie!).  We’re still looking at locations.  But we will meet at 7pm and let you know where the movie night will be at!

Bring markers to help us make posters for our upcoming events!
October 17th – Keep Your Green; Vote NO on Prop 15 Information Table, join us in the Sombrilla to pass out information about why YCT is against Proposition 15, which if passed makes a hugely irresponsible allocation of YOUR tax dollars in Texas.  From 11AM until 2pm

October 22nd – Empty Holster Concealed Carry Protest – we are setting up a table in the Sombrilla with information about getting a concealed carry permit and showing our position in favor of gun rights on college campuses.  You are not required to wear an empty holster, however, we would appreciate it if you did.  From Noon until 2pm

October 24th – Anti UN Day, join us the Sombrilla to protest the United Nations, one of the most ineffective and corrupt world organizations ever to exist.  We will be playing games like Pin the Non-Binding Resolution on the Dictator, Sock it to the UN, and the UN Slogan Picker, from 11AM until 1pm

October 24th – Join us the Mesquite Room at 8pm for our honored guest Representative Frank Corte, Jr. who will address the student body about his time in Iraq and the progress we’re making there.

It’s a busy month, but there’s a good reason we were named the 2007 Chapter of the Year!

Thanks for helping make our anti-fascism event a huge success today! We made the news all over San Antonio including KENS5, KABB29, WOAI, WOAI Talk Radio, the Adam McMannus show on KSLR, KTSA talk radio, KSAT12, and many, many more. Your hard work and dedication really helped out!

Here’s one of the many links: http://www.ksat.com/news/14192542/detail.html

To learn more about what you can do to help make our events an even bigger success I invite you to join us this Wednesday for a meeting in the Ash Room of the UC at 8pm.

We will have a guest speaker of the Leadership Institute from Arlington, VA to discuss investigative journalism and its role in our new conservative publication.

YCT Brings on the Debate

September 20, 2007

http://media.www.paisano-online.com/media/storage/paper975/news/2007/09/18/Opinion/Yct-Brings.On.The.Debate-2977980.shtml

The recent editorial you printed claimed that the organizations that sparked controversy and debate were nowhere to be seen on campus anymore, but local and national news reports beg to differ.

The Young Conservatives of Texas (YCT) are still representing conservatives on this campus and are gaining national attention for our work in politics. Our members have been featured on CNN, ABC News, National Public Radio, MSNBC’s Hardball, C-SPAN, and a variety of local news outlets for our dedication to limit government, lower taxes and more personal responsibility.

YCT will continue to work diligently to create more discussion on this campus and whether we invite you to join us, you agree or disagree. We also encourage the student body to go beyond this discussion and register to vote and make your voice, your rally and your opinion count.

However, the student body on both sides of the political spectrum must be open to this debate. Despite the “controversy” stirred up by our invited speakers, like Chris Simcox, and our events to limit government control in your life, YCT will continue to provide speakers, events and debates at our university.

This is the fastest growing university in the great state of Texas and one of the most diverse campuses in the nation. In order to keep it this way, the student body needs to be accepting of all views, whether they are conservative or liberal.

I invite those of you who want to spark more discussion on this campus to join the Young Conservatives of Texas this semester,
here you can make a real difference in politics.

Intro

July 8, 2007

Young Conservatives of Texas is an independent, non-partisan youth organization dedicated to the preservation of individual liberties and freedoms through limited government. Founded in 1980, YCT is an organization that enables college students to participate in the political process. We believe that there is no better way to educate and train young citizens as to the working of our government than to have them directly involved.

Members of YCT have gone on to work in all levels of government and have enjoyed tremendous success in the private sector.

YCT releases the most respected ratings of the Texas Legislature and endorsed conservative candidates in elections state wide. With 11 chapters across the Lone Star State, YCT brings the battle for conservative values to the forefront of Texas politics.

“The future of the United States of America depends upon principled young people caring enough to become involved in the political process. YCT fulfills this need.”
- Oliver North
